Get the Look: Hollywood Regency Bedroom

A bedroom should be many things: a sanctuary, a place to curl up with a book, a place where the entire family can pile onto the bed, a place to get ready each morning and decompress each night. But first and foremost, a bedroom should be beautiful. Think Hollywood Regency beautiful.

Don't Neglect The Bedroom!

We find that bedrooms are often the eyesore of the home, left for last, while living rooms and kitchens flourish. Maybe it's because the bedroom is often out of sight of guests, maybe because most people see their bedroom as a place to sleep and not much else.
Whatever the reason, oftentimes, people neglect their bedroom when it comes to decorating their home, when they should be doing just the opposite.
Sure, the bedroom isn't the central gathering place of the home. But as we said above, it is a sanctuary, and often, the one and only room in the house where you can truly unplug. For that reason, it should be beautiful. It should make you feel calm and regal, like you can rest your head in the evenings and take on the world each morning.

Design the Perfect Hollywood Regency Sanctuary

With all that in mind, we recommend a glamorous Hollywood Regency style bedroom. Hollywood Regency is all about the glam, with soft, luxurious fabrics such as velvet and silk, paired with neo-classical lines, glossy surfaces (hellooo, chrome and lacquer!), distinct patterns (greek key, anyone?) and of course, hints of gold.
Opulence is key when it comes to decorating a Hollywood Regency bedroom.
Start at the top with a gorgeous flush mount light fixture, and end on the floor, with stunning furniture pieces in luxe fabrics and statement finishes. Carry those gold or silver tones into the accent lighting, and add a simple but chic table lamp. From there, we recommend the signature of the Hollywood Regency decorating style: a burnished sunburst mirror.

Mix Those Metals

We're not afraid to mix metals, and you shouldn't be either. The best rooms are the ones where something is just a little bit unconventional, like a gorgeous metallic silver hide bench. Put it at the foot of the bed; the stainless steel base will play perfectly off the shimmering pewter linen of the bed frame and headboard.

The Finishing Touches

For the dresser, consider adding a three drawer chest. A true 'covet until you have it' piece, a chest would look great as an oversized nightstand (especially if you're going for extra storage), or could also be put side by side for his and hers dressers. Finishing off the room with an armchair fit for a queen. If you've got room, we'd recommend a pair of armchairs for a reading area, but just one would make for a great statement as well. Oversized and deep enough to suit the man of the house, but tufted and glamorous enough for the lady, an upholstered armchair delivers a classic Art Deco silhouette, making for the perfect finishing touch to our Hollywood Regency bedroom.
